Terrie Powers, Artist
Terrie Powers has been painting and exhibiting for forty-plus years. She works in her Bon Air (outside Richmond), Virginia, studio, surrounded by woods and all the extraordinary changes of the seasons.
After receiving a degree in Studio Arts from the University of Richmond, she had a forty-year career as a scenic designer/artist with Virginia Repertory Theatre, where she designed and painted hundreds of sets for the main stage as well as for the nation’s second largest touring children’s theater.
She has been painting full time since 2020. She was an artist member of 1708 Gallery in the 1980’s, and then an Emeritus member. She was selected as an Outstanding Woman in the Arts by Style Weekly Magazine in 2013.
Terrie has exhibited in New York City (galleries in Lower East Side and in Brooklyn) and at Visual Arts Studio in Richmond, VA. She has numerous paintings in corporate and private collections, such as VCU Hospitals, the Children’s Hospital of Richmond, Westminster Canterbury Richmond (including their Multi-Faith Spiritual Center), the Richmond Public Library, and several restaurants, as well as in many homes.
One of her paintings was chosen to be reproduced on a flag around Rockefeller Center in 2022.
Terrie enjoys traveling, hiking, and immersing herself in the various natural scenes that inspire her work.
