The Lake Series
ARTIST STATEMENT:
"I wanted to create a sense of place in the environment. A place the viewer can visit from afar or by hovering over. The main element I work with is shape: a concave horizon that takes in the sky, or a bulging lake that rises up to the sky. The colors I choose are in the water colors of aqua and teal. I layer texture with graphite and chalk and many layers of thinly washed paint. As always, that connection we have to nature is foremost."
